Hacienda Bukare

Hacienda Bukare is a cocoa plantation in the Paria region of Venezuela dating back to 1908. The Esser family acquired the hacienda in 1994 and later reconstructed the original hacienda house converting it into a guesthouse to accommodate visitors.
In 2000, in addition to the cultivation of cacao the hacienda extended activities to include small scale production of hand made chocolate. This development was initially in response to local demand and then to increased demand from visiting tourists.

Step by step the chocolate company expanded, the products diversified and the decision was taken to make the transition to the present industrial phase. Without sacrificing the quality that could be achieved on a handmade scale it was then possible to enable the much sought after fermented cacao of the Paria region of Venezuela to be manufactured efficiently and made available to a much wider national and international market.
Literally in the shade of the cacao plantation IABCA (Industrias Alimenticias Bukare C.A.), (Nutritional Industries Bukare C.A.) was born.
